Associate Operations Engineer

Summary Description

The Associate Operations Engineer is responsible for providing Engineering support to the production floor for the assembly and test of computer server systems and embedded system assemblies.  The Associate Engineer will work under the direction of the Quality Manager to improve the assembly processes and remove cost from the overall production process. 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Support the production floor by providing the necessary tools, processes, fixturing, and equipment for operations to accurately and repeatedly assemble and test customer products. 
  • Responsible for updating manufacturing methods (assembly and test work instructions) as required.
  • Use process improvement skills including the use of ‘Lean’ tools to drive increased manufacturing productivity.
  • Use practical understanding of root cause analysis tools and methods to improve the production process.
  • Operations floor presence removing any barriers that may negatively affect safety, quality, delivery, morale, productivity and cost.
  • Will assist the NPI Team in preparing manufacturing assembly/test procedures. Provide conceptual design input for new products and may provide recommendations to modify products for manufacturability.
  • Implement cost, quality and consistency improvements in existing and to-be-released products and processes.
  • Maintains test equipment and software revisions per required calibration recommendations.
  • Ensure manufacturing floor is within ESD compliance.
  • Will assist in troubleshooting RMA field returns to resolution.
  • ECO generation, review, and implementation support.
  • Provide weekend support during peak production times.  
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Working knowledge of practical manufacturing techniques for computer server and embedded systems, including test techniques using industry test programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to organize prepare and present materials to customers, suppliers and/or company management at all levels.
  • The ability to look at issues at a systems level.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques (Green Belt preferred).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standard.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (EPICOR preferred).

Experience Requirements

  • An Associate degree in a technical related field is preferred. 
  • 3 – 5 years working in an Engineering support role in an electro-mechanical, computer assembly environment is preferred. 
  • Must be familiar with use of Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter, requiring minimal supervision, resourceful, and decisive.
  • Must have ability to work independently and adjust to conflicting or competing requirements.
  • Must be legally allowed to work in US
